Sophomore Shawn Carr fired in 19 points, including four three-point goals in the second half, while sophomore Ryan Gerber added 15 points. Gerber drained three three-pointers and is now 18 for 36 (50 percent) from three-point territory this season.
Sophomore Joe Capotosta added 10 points off the bench for Grove City (4-7).
Grove City led wire-to-wire and led by as many as 13, 33-20, in the first half. Pitt-Greensburg closed the gap to 41-33 by halftime. The Wolverines extended their lead to 57-40 in the second half before Pitt-Greensburg rallied.
A three-pointer from Matt Rowland cut the Grove City lead to 74-72 with 1:06 left. However, a layup by Grove City junior forward Mark Smith and two free throws from both Carr and senior point guard Matt Phillips sealed the victory.
Phillips had seven assists and no turnovers while junior center Craig Hallman had a team-high seven rebounds. Grove City held a 37-27 edge on the glass.
Duke Cooper led Pitt-Greensburg with a 20-point, 8-rebound, 5-assist effort.
Grove City will play Albright Friday night in the semifinals of Albright's TGIFriday's/Sheraton Tournament in Reading, Pa. at 8 p.m.
