The Yellow Jackets hit six of their first eight shots to take a 15-8 lead, forcing BC to play catch-up the rest of the night.
Bridgewater’s Josh Maupin
hit a three-pointer before Randolph-Macon reeled off eight straight points to take a 23-11 lead. The Eagles hung around for the rest of the half as the early 12-point cushion was their biggest deficit of the first half. Bridgewater went to the locker room trailing by seven when Ryan Glover scored on a backdoor layup with :26 seconds remaining in the half.
Bridgewater stayed within striking distance for the first 12 minutes of the second half and trailed by just eight, 54-46, with 7:49 left.
The Yellow Jackets then reeled off seven straight points to take a 15-point lead. The visitors led by as many as 18 points before a late 11-2 flurry by the Eagles in the closing minutes trimmed the final margin to 70-63.
Justin Wansley paced the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 14 points. Eleven Yellow Jackets broke into the scoring column with Phil Hawley scoring nine and Stephen Sutherland, , Patrick Gill and David Carlson each finishing with eight. Randolph-Macon shot 55.3 percent (26-of-47) from the floor and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from 3-point range. The Yellow Jackets also made all 10 of their foul shots.
Clay Michael paced the Eagles with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Fox added nine points and Andrew Cathlin scored eight for BC.
Randolph-Macon improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the ODAC while the Eagles dropped to 4-6, 1-3 in the ODAC.
