Johns Hopkins 92, John Jay 60

BALTIMORE, Md. — Johns Hopkins (7-2) used a 19-0 run over a span of 6:13 in the second half to polish off John Jay (0-12), 90-62, and advance to the championship game of the 15th Annual Blue Jay Invitational at Goldfarb Gym.

The Blue Jays held the Bloodhounds scoreless from the 10:51 mark of the second half until the 4:38 point, extending the lead from 66-45 to 85-45 during that stretch.

After Hopkins built a lead of as much as 21 in the first half, the Bloodhounds cut the advantage, to make the score 43-35 at the break. A 13-0 run to start the second half gave Hopkins some breathing room, before opening up a lead of as much as 40 later in the period.

Highlighting the evening for the Blue Jays was a career-high 12 points from junior Zack Armen, who was 6-of-6 from the field in only 14 minutes off the bench. Juniors Matt Griffin and Danny Nawrocki also scored in double figures for Hopkins, posting 14 and 12, respectively.

For the game, Hopkins made 38-of-62 (61.3%) of its shots from the floor.

Junior Victor Raspaldo paced the Bloodhounds with a 22 points in the loss, highlighted by an 11-for-13 shooting performance from the free throw line. Junior Jason Parker was the only other Bloodhound to reach double digits in scoring, racking up 15.

Hopkins will advance to the finals of the Blue Jay Invitational against Buffalo State, with the tip set for 4 p.m. Hopkins is in search of its fourth tournament title in as many tries. John Jay will face St. Mary's in the consolation game at 2 p.m.
