Wesleyan led by just two points (30-28) with 3:28 left to play in the first half before scoring the next seven points to take a 37-28 lead with 1:58 remaining. The lead would stay at nine (43-34) at halftime. In the second half the Titans roared out of the gate and in the first eight minutes ran out to a 21 point lead (63-42) thanks to a 20-8 burst. Augustana could never get any closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Dain Swetalla scored 23 points to lead Augustana in scoring. He also grabbed a game high 15 rebounds and shot eight of 11 from the floor and seven of eight from the free throw line. Rick Harrigan was the only other player in double figures with 14 points.
The Vikings shot .377 from the field (23-61) and were just four of 20 from three point range. They outrebounded the Titans 40-30 but the normal Augustana defensive pressure was not evident as the Blue & Gold only forced seven turnovers.
Illinois Wesleyan moved to 20-5 overall and Augustana fell to 21-5. The Titans will now face North Central, which defeated Elmhurst 67-57 in the first game of the evening.
