Immink's three-pointer marked a personal milestone and set the tone for his team's 85-63 victory over visiting Alma. The basket put Immink over 1,000 career points, a fete now accomplished by 29 Hope men's basketball players. Earlier this season teammate Andy Phillips also eclipsed the 1,000 point mark.
Immink's basket brought an immediate reaction from many of the fans who raised signs displaying the number "1,000" in celebration of the accomplishment.
Hope advances to the tournament semi-finals against Albion on Friday at Calvin College. Tipoff will be 6 p.m. The other semi-final game will pit host Calvin against Kalamazoo. The championship game in this NCAA qualifying tournament will be Saturday night at Calvin.
The Flying Dutchmen never trailed and led 47-31 at halftime. Hope led by as many as 23 points in the second half.
Immink entered the game with 999 career points. His 10 point performance puts him at 1,009. Game scoring honors belonged to sophomore Marcus Vanderheide with 15 points while senior Eric Voisin tallied 10.
