Hope 80, Kalamazoo 47

HOLLAND, Mich. — The Flying Dutch have begun conference tournament play exactly where they left off when the regular season concluded -- convincingly. The nationally ranked Flying Dutch rolled to an 80-47 victory over visiting Kalamazoo Tuesday night to advance to Thursday's semi-final round. The team's 22nd consecutive victory moves them to 25-1 on the season.

Coach Brian Morehouse's Dutch will host Olivet in the semi-final round Thursday at the new DeVos Fieldhouse. Tipoff will be 7:30 p.m.

Six minutes into the game Hope held a 16-12 lead. Two minutes later the Flying Dutch concluded an 11-point run to take a 27-12 advantage. By halftime the Flying Dutchmen were ahead 46-21. The Flying Dutch scored eight three-point baskets in the first half as junior Sarah Jurik went 4-for-4 outside the arch.

Fifteen Hope players scored and fourteen grabbed a rebound. Senior Bria Ebels and Jurik each scored 14 points while Linda Ebels finished with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds.

The Flying Dutch were credited with 23 steals as 12 different players took the ball away from the Hornets. Julie Henderson and Kaitlyn Kopke each had three steals.
