North Carolina Wesleyan 77, Greensboro 67

Greensboro, N.C. — Adam Coleman and Lenny Hall both scored 18 points as North Carolina Wesleyan College defeated Greensboro College, 77-67, in a USA South quarterfinal game Tuesday.

Coleman grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. The battle of boards was a key in the game as the Bishops had 45 caroms to 31 for The Pride. NCWC converted 30 second chance points to 8 for GC. The Pride closes the year 12-13.

The Bishops started the game with a 12-0 run and The Pride played catch-up the rest of the game. The visitors led 43-31 at the break.

“We got off to a poor start, they rebounded and made key shots,” said GC Head Coach Bryan Galuski. “I’m frustrated now, but we did some really good things this year.

Freshman Michael McDuffie led GC scorers with 18 points. Senior Steve Berg added 17 points (four three-pointers) and James Newman added 12 on four from behind the arc. It was Newman’s first game back from an injury he suffered Feb. 4.

The Bishops converted 20-33 free throws to GC’s 23-21. As for shooting, NCWC was 27-57 from the field (47-percent); The Pride was 22-54.

Jarmel Arrington scored 14 points for NCWC (9-17), which faces number one seeded CNU in Newport News on Friday at 6 p.m.
