Mount Ida’s 110 points were a season-best and the most since it piled up 122 at Johnson State College on February 22, 2004. Four Mustangs poured in 20 or more points, as the visitors made nine three-pointers and shot a sizzling 68.4% (39-57) from the field. They racked up 25 assists on 39 made baskets.
Junior Doug Williams (Ellicot City, Md./St. Mary’s) made 12-of-15 shots from the field and all five of his free-throw attempts en route to a career-high 29 points, while classmate Andreas Vasiliu (Newton, Mass./Newton North) was 6-of-6 from beyond the arc. He finished with a career-best 25 points along with five assists, five boards and four steals for Mount Ida.
Senior James Godley recorded a double-double on 20 points and ten assists for Thomas. The Terriers also received solid production from classmate Dan Grappi, who totaled 19 points, five assists and four steals. Junior Chad Gray and senior Nick DePalmer registered 17 and 13 points respectively to round things out for the hosts.
Mount Ida ends its season with an overall record of 7-18 and a league mark of 5-9. Thomas (8-17, 6-8 NAC), the number three seed in the NAC East Division, will travel to the second seeded University of Maine Farmington on Tuesday. The NAC quarterfinal matchup is slated to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

Scott Chamberlain: A senior sports management major from Millis, Mass., Scott Chamberlain wrapped up a brilliant four year career as the leading scorer in the history of the Mount Ida College basketball program (1,445 points). He made an impact on the Mustangs program immediately, earning North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year and All-Conference Honorable mention accolades following his freshman campaign. He was also named to the NAC Honorable Mention squad after his junior season, a year in which he became the sixth Mustang in program history to score 1,000 career points. In 95 career games, he piled up 15.2 points, 7.5 rebounds per game to go with 137 assists and 143 blocks. Chamberlain amassed 26 double-doubles over his career, including six this season. He reached double-digits in the scoring column 75 times, scoring 20 points or more 28 times. He netted a career-best 30 points versus Emmanuel College during his freshman year and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds three times.
Matt McGaughran: Matt McGaughran joined the Mount Ida men’s basketball team in 2001 and just completed his fifth year with the program. A four-year captain from Taunton, Mass., McGaughran became the seventh Mustang in program history to reach the 1,000 point plateau (1,037 career points) with his 15 points against the University of Maine Farmington on Friday. The former North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year, McGaughran appeared in 98 career contests, averaging 10.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per outing. This season, he led the squad with 73 assists. He notched his first career double-double on 22 points and a career-best ten boards versus Mitchell College in his final home game (2/8). McGaughran netted a career-high 29 points on two occasions during his five years and dished out a career-best nine assists at Becker this year. He reached double-digits in the scoring column 48 times, netting 20 or more on eight occasions.
