Ithaca 82, Hartwick 66

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Bombers defeated Hartwick 82-66. The victory, coupled with Rochester Institute of Technology’s loss to St. John Fisher, clinches the three seed for Ithaca in the Empire 8 Championship Tournament. The Bombers will play second-seeded Utica on Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Freshman Jeff Bostic (Geneva/Geneva) set career-highs with 17 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Senior Jim Bellis (Bloomfield/East Bloomfield) recorded a team-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Bellis passed Archie McEachern for 10th all-time on the Bombers career scoring list. Sophomore Dominic Scanlon (Oswego/Oswego) scored 13 points and senior Brian Andruskiewicz (Montville/Oakdale, Conn.) added 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior Jonathan Whetstone (Palo Alto/Palo Alto, Calif.) registered a team-high nine assists, passing Dave Wood for fourth all-time with 347 career assists.

Ithaca (12-12, 8-5 Empire 8) scored the first 10 points of the game and never looked back. The Bombers lead grew to as big as 25 points in the second half.

Freshman A.J. Beaulieu scored a team-high 18 points for the Hawks (10-14, 4-9 Empire 8) and senior Tim Kindlon added 17 points off the bench.

The Bombers close out the regular season on Tuesday, hosting Elmira. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
