“With all that’s gone on this week, clinching the conference title and all, we struggled with our energy level to open the game,” said Coach Tony Duckworth. “But we stepped it up, especially on the defensive end when we came back from the break. It was a great way to end the regular season and get set to host the Great South Athletic Conference tournament.”
Jon Dodd hit for a career-high 17 points to lead the Hawks, followed by Chris Phillips and Brandon Addison with 11 each as the Huntingdon big men dominated the paint. Pensacola Christian got 11 each from Brad Humble and Joshua Hershberger.
Huntingdon hosts both sides of the G.S.A.C. basketball tournament starting this Thursday. Barring a series of conference upsets to close the regular season, Huntingdon’s opening match-ups are set. The 4th-seeded Lady Hawks will open play at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday against 5th-seeded LaGrange College. The 2nd-seeded Hawks men will face 3rd-seeded Fisk University at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
