Despite scoring only three points over the final five minutes of the first half, the Gophers (3-20, 3-11 CAC) were leading by eight at the break, 34-26. Jonathan Garritt supplied Goucher with 12 points in the first half, bunching them all into a span of less than six minutes.
Garritt missed his first shot of the game, but then proceeded to connect on his next five attempts, starting with a pair from three-point range. His final points of the first half provided Goucher with an 18-16 lead midway through the period.
The Gophers' maintained at least a five-point lead throughout the entire second half and once got it up to 15 points on a three-point basket by James Russo.
Garritt led all scorers with 24 points, plus he was credited with 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals. Russo contributed 21 points to the victory, which boosts Goucher's advantage in the all-time series with Marymount to 22-13.
Marc Mazzuchi captured scoring honors for the Saints (10-14, 4-10 CAC) by producing 18 points.
