Emmanuel 100, Daniel Webster 47

BOSTON, Ma. — SAINTS SOAR PAST EAGLES, 100-47

The Emmanuel College Men’s Basketball Team wrapped up the regular season with a 100-47 victory over visiting Daniel Webster College. With this win, the Saints finished the regular season at 19-6 overall and 17-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Daniel Webster fell to 0-25 on the season and 0-18 in the GNAC.

The Saints shot 47.1% from the floor for the game and all 12 Emmanuel players scored. The Saints were led by sophomore center Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK), who pumped in 21 points (7-11 from the floor and 7-8 from the line), pulled down 10 rebounds, and blocked 2 shots. Sophomore forward Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) netted 17 points, grabbed 10 boards, and dished out 4 assists. Freshman forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) hit for 13 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. In his final regular season home game, Emmanuel’s lone senior, Jason Brown, (Amherst, MA) recorded 12 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals. Junior center Trevor Blanchet (Dracut, MA) came off the bench to add 10 rebounds to the Saints’ 67 total boards.

Daniel Webster received 9 points from senior guard Chris Fox (McLean, NY). Sophomore guard Dan Haynes (Downsville, NY) added 7 points and 3 rebounds in the loss.

The 2005-2006 season marked the Saints’ best regular season finish in program history. Today’s win extended a 14-game winning streak in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Emmanuel’s only defeat in the GNAC this season was an 84-82 overtime loss to Norwich University, suffered in Northfield, VT on January 12th. The Saints clinched the top spot in the GNAC heading into Tuesday night’s quarterfinal tournament game. Emmanuel will host the 8th seed in the tournament on Tuesday (2/21) at 7pm in the Jean Yawkey Center.
