Methodist (13-11, 8-5 USA South) successfully fought off Shenandoah (8-15, 3-8 USA South) opportunities at the 14:04, 13:07 and 11:51 marks to gain a season sweep over the Hornets.
The Lady Monarchs iced the game by going on an 11-4 run following Joia Davis’ two free throws that had made it 61-59 in favor of the hosts with 11:51 left. This margin eventually expanded to 12 points, 78-66, by the 4:36 mark before SU was able to answer with a 10-2 run of its own over the next 3:15.
Unfortunately for coach Kathy Orsini’s squad, this would prove to be the high-water mark. MC got one second chance basket and made all four of its foul shots while the Hornets missed four three-pointers and one layup in the remaining 51 seconds of the contest.
Junior Dee Fisher led Shenandoah with 21 points while Cassie Womack added 20 to go along with a game-high 16 rebounds. Sophomore Netagia Foreman and senior Joia Davis rounded out the visitors double-digit scorers with 12 apiece.
Lisa Jackson had 23 and Stacy Williams 13 for Methodist.
