The first half was similar to the opening rounds of a boxing match. Both teams delivered blows, but neither managed a significant scoring outburst as Kings Point went into the half by two (30-28) courtesy a Paul Tricarico jumper with 28 seconds remaining in the period.
USMMA led by as many as six (38-32) with three minutes elapsed in the second as senior Brian Kelly knocked down a triple at the 17:18 mark. St. Joseph's answered that basket with a 15-2 run to take a seven point lead with 12:19 left and never looked back from that point on.
Chris Niblock was an efficient 9-of-11 from the floor for a St. Joseph's high 18 points. Phil Lipari added 16 points in the winning effort. Freshman Alex Loepker led Kings Point with a game-high 19 points, while Tricarico and Zach Wyatte combined for 22 points.
USMMA (10-14, 5-8 Skyline) returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. for the regular season finale and "Senior Day" at home versus Mt. St. Mary's.
