With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 18-5 overall and 13-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. With the win, Northern wraps up the #2 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.
Baldwin-Wallace falls to 22-2 overall and 15-2 in the OAC. The loss for BW ends their 11-game OAC winning streak.
Junior Ryan Lee also paced the Bears by notching his first career double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. Junior Bart Hostetler chipped in 10 points for ONU.
Northern was able to get things started in the first half, jumping out to a 6-2 lead at the 16:56 mark off a layup by Lee, but the Yellow Jackets answered with a 10-3 run with 12:58 left in the half to give them a 12-9 lead.
The Bears pushed the score to 27-16 off a Hostetler tip-in with 5:48 left in the half to hold their largest advantage at the half.
At the 3:52 mark, the Bears again led by 11, as Badenhop nailed a jumper.
Badenhop hit a lay-up as time expired in the first half, to give ONU a 37-29 lead going into intermission.
In the second half, Northern was able to increase their lead to as many as 16 on a three-pointer by junior Jared Bostleman with 17:24 left in the game.
B-W rallied on a 12-0 run, to cut the score to 47-43 with 13:42 left in the half. During the run, Tori Davis led the Yellow Jackets with six points.
Bostleman stopped the run with a three-point dagger to give the Bears a 50-43 lead with 13:14 left in the game.
Baldwin-Wallace again rallied late and were down by one, but a three-pointer by Badenhop gave the Bears a four point lead 62-58 with 6:06 left in the game.
Baldwin-Wallace kept the game close within the final mintues, but Bostleman was able to force two turnovers within the last 40 seconds to allow ONU to seal the win.
“This was a great win against a great team,” said ONU head coach Jeff Coleman. “When Baldwin-Wallace rallied with their 12-0 run in the second half, we were able to hold them down during the stretch, which gave us a lot of confidence as a team.”
Baldwin-Wallace connected on 24-of-46 shots for 52.2 percent, while ONU hit 26-of-64 shots for 40.6 percent.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Davis' 22 points and Brendan Schuler’s 17 points.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday at 3 p.m., as they return home to face John Carroll in the regular season finale.
