The Devils can still earn the fourth and final Freedom Conference Playoff spot if Drew can beat host King’s on Thursday and the Devils can then beat visiting King’s on Saturday.
Drew trailed by just a point, 11-10, with 14:06 left in the first half, but did not score again until there remained just 2:43 in the period. Over that 11:23, the Devils outscored the Rangers 29-0. After Drew scored to make the score 30-12 with 2:43 remaining, the Devils went on an 8-0 run to close the half up 38-12.
For FDU, freshman guard Emily Cerankowski (Easton, PA) led the team with 16 points. She just missed her third double-double of the season, pulling down nine boards. Senior center Ashley Flaherty (Hardyston, NJ) posted her fourth double-double of the year, scoring 11 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Senior forward Nicole Iannotto (Brooklyn, NY) registered her first career double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Junior guard Jessie Chalmers (Middletown, NJ) added 13 markers, four steals, and four assists.
For Drew, Melissa Kraft scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Courtney Cunningham added 14 markers.
The Devils out-rebounded the Rangers 58-39. FDU pulled down 18 offensive rebounds to Drew’s 10. In the first half, the Devils held a 32-14 rebounding advantage.
FDU will host King’s for their final regular-season game of the year on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
