Endicott 83, Wentworth 73

BEVERLY, MA — BEVERLY, MA – Junior forward Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/Second Baptist School, TX) recorded a double-double and senior guard Matt George (Dover, NH/Dover) had a solid all-around night to help Endicott get past Wentworth, 83-73, Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

The Gulls improved to 15-8 overall and 12-2 in the CCC behind Marinkovic’s 24-point, 13-rebound performance that also included five assists. H George chipped in 21 points (8-of-14 field goals, 4-of-7 three-point land), six rebounds and eight assists in the win that dropped Wentworth to 9-14 overall and 5-10 in the CCC.

Freshman forward Todd Doyle (Mystic, CT/Fitch) led Wentworth with 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting while senior forward Frankie Hall (Boston, MA/Boston English) added 14 points and three steals and sophomore guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, CT/McMahon) chipped in 13 points, three assists and three steals.

Sophomore guard Ed Bolton (Silver Springs, MD/Paint Branch) and sophomore guard Jason DaCosta (Cambridge, MA/Cambridge Ridge & Latin) each picked up nine points for Wentworth, while senior guard Zach Ellis (Westford, MA/Westford) had 10 points, two assists and two steals for the Gulls.

Endicott shot 55 percent from the floor while the Leopards were connecting at a 44 percent clip, but the visitors forced 21 EC turnovers to stay in the game. The Gulls received plenty of help from their bench led by freshman forward Joey Burgos (Lawrence, MA/Lawrence), who scored nine points and three blocks. Freshman forward Francis Mayi (Lawrence, MA/Lawrence) sophomore guard Gary Corbett (Danbury, CT/Danbury) added seven points in the win.

The Gulls look to continue their winning ways Thursday night when they travel to Colby-Sawyer while the Leopards host Gordon Thursday.
