On Senior Day the Lions sent seniors Trevor Deeter and Andy Winebrenner out with a victory in their final home regular season game. The Lions were in control from the start, trailing only one time in the game at 5-3. A 14-4 run put Albright on top 17-9 with 12:21 left in the half. A three from Dave Kasyan pulled LVC within five, 17-12, but that would be the last field goal for the Dutchmen until 13:24 remained in the ball game, a span of 17 and a half minutes. Albright went through a minor dry spell of its own, but built the lead to 10, 26-16, on a Deeter bucket in the paint with just under three minutes remaining until the half. Albright would take a 29-18 lead to the locker room, holding the Dutchmen to 17% shooting from the field (4-24) in the half. Deeter had 10 points to lead the Lions at the break, while Kasyan had 10 for LVC.
Albright took advantage of LVC's continued offensive woes at the start of the second half, as a Winebrenner triple capped an 11-2 spurt in the first four minutes to push the lead to 20, 40-20. After Kyle Brudvig's basket made the score 42-20, Jimmy Curran hit a jumper to break LVC's field goal drought. Winebrenner answered at the other end with another three that gave Albright its largest lead of the night, 45-22. The Dutchmen got as close as 15 with six minutes remaining, but back to back baskets from Winebrenner and Lee Walter pushed Albright's advantage back to 19, 60-41, and LVC never threatened the rest of the way.
Four players scored 12 points for Albright on a night in which only seven Lions made their way into the scoring column. Deeter, Walter, Tom Murphy, and Brudvig all had 12 points, while Deeter pulled a game-high eight rebounds. Brudvig's 12 points are a career high for the sophomore center. Matt Kieselowsky and Greg Conroy each handed out four assists, while the Lions turned the ball over a season-low eight times. For LVC, Kasyan finished with 14 points and eight boards, while Curran added 10 points and Dan Hodge had nine off the bench. The Dutchmen shot 27% from the field for the game, hitting just 12-44 shots.
Albright will close out the regular season Saturday at Juniata at 4:00. A win will put the Lions at no worse than the third seed, and could lead to a second seed and a home playoff game if Messiah loses at Widener Saturday afternoon.
