The Cougars (11-12) had a 9-2 run over the last four minutes, expanding a 30-27 lead to a 39-29 score at the break, to put the game out of reach. City Tech cut the lead to five points twice in the second half, but the seven-man rotation didn’t have the stamina for the 11-man rotation used by Kean. Senior forward Armet Coles, Jr. (St. Peter’s / Staten Island, NY) and sophomore Lamar Wright (Absegami / Gallaway, NJ) led KU with 19 points each. While senior forward BJ Hamby (Bridgewater / Bridgewater, NJ) and Coles also led the Cougars on the boards with 11 and seven respectively. Hamby added 16 points and junior forward Brett Wyatt (St. Mary’s Elizabeth, NJ) added 10 points in the victory.
Junior forward Otis Saylee (Seward Park / New York, NY) was City Tech’s (8-16) only other player in double figures with 12 points. Freshman forward Kevin Hall (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) added nine points and led the Yellow Jackets on the boards with six.
City Tech (7-6 CUNYAC) will host their final non-conference game on Wedneday night, February 15th at the Klitgord Center versus Farmingdale State at 7:00 pm, following a women’s game between the two schools. It will be senior night for the Yellow Jackets’ two four-year player, Forteau and Danul Cabbagestalk (John Adams / Brooklyn, NY).
