DOVER, De. — Wesley College (16-7) defeated non-conference opponent Newport News Apprentice (12-9) by a final score of 70-53, in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Wesley was led by Tricia Casarotto (SR, Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) and T'Neisha Turner (SR, Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass) as both posted 16 points. Turner added 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Casarotto had 8 rebounds. Sophia Johnson (JR, Mt. Royal, NJ/Paulsboro) contributed 10 points in the effort. Newport News Apprentice was led by Rahshann Lewter's (FR, Hampton, VA/Hampton) 17 points and 2 steals, while Dayna Twyne (JR, Bridgeport, CT/Bayside) added 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Wesley's largest lead of the first half was 9 points (34-25), which was the score at halftime. The Lady Builders would get no closer than 7 points the rest of the way as Wesley built their lead up to as many as 20 points in the second half. With Wesley up 49-39, the Wolverines went on a 14-5 run over the next 6:34 push its lead to 63-44 with 4:39 remaining in the game, as Casarotto had 6 of the Wesley points during the run. Wesley was able to force 5 Lady Builder turnovers during that span to help put the game away.

Wesley shot 27-of-70 (38.6%) from the field and forced Newport News Apprentice into 17 turnovers, while also holding a 52-40 advantage in rebounds.
