Newburgh, NY – Mount Saint Mary College senior Brandon Weldon became the newest member of the Blue Knights 1000 point club on Saturday February 11th. Weldon, who needed four points coming into the contest, swished his second three of the first half to surpass the 1000 mark. In front of a full house, on Senior Day, Weldon not only recorded his career 1000th but also led the Blue Knights to a 66-63 victory over SUNY Old Westbury. Brandon Weldon, a 5-11 guard, finished with 26 points; shooting a very respectable 59% from the floor.
Brandon Weldon is the silent but deadly scorer for Mount Saint Mary College, averaging 18.9ppg, the second highest on the team. Currently, he is ranked third in the Skyline Conference in scoring and eighth in the conference in field goal percentage with 50.8%. In December 2005, Brandon was named to the All-Tournament team at the South Padre Shootout. Brandon Weldon was named Skyline Conference Honorable Mention Player of the Week on January 9th.
Last season, Weldon helped the Blue Knights win the Skyline Conference championship and was honored as the Skyline Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player. He finished the 2004-2005 season ranked number 91 in the nation in assists per game with 4.3 assists
