Baruch (12-1 CUNY) led 49-37 with 16:37 to go in the second half before a technical foul was called on Lightning head coach Steve Schulman. After the technical foul, Lehman used a 8-0 run to cut the Baruch lead to four points. After exchanging baskets, Lehman forced a 62-62 tie with 8:42 remaining. Led by Vargas, the Lightning closed out the game with a 28-11 run to secure the final total.
Lehman (9-4 CUNY) also received strong performances from junior guard Kyle Lockett, who finished with 14 points, while senior Franky Gedeon chipped in with 12 points.
For Baruch, Louie Karis led the way with 24 points, while center Cheick Fadika added 14 points in the loss.
Up next for the Lightning and Bearcats will be the 41st Annual Con Edison CUNY Basketball Tournament, to be held at the College of Staten Island beginning Saturday, February 18th.
