KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women’s basketball team (11-11, 6-5 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to North Central College (10-13, 5-7 CCIW), 65-60, on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage had a five-point lead, 16-11, midway through the first half, but North Central took the lead for good, 20-18, at 7:42 and led by eight points at halftime, 32-24. The Cardinals went up by 13 points in the second half, 50-37, at 9:46. The Lady Reds whittled the lead down to three points, 63-60, with 24 seconds remaining, but Jennifer Norris’ layup with nine seconds on the clock secured the 65-60 Cardinals victory. North Central shot 38 percent (19-50) and made 24-of-30 from the free-throw line. Carthage shot 37 percent (22-59). Lashawndra Brown scored a game-high 16 points for the Cardinals, while Brianne Parra had 15 points and eight rebounds. Katie Jarger topped Carthage with 15 points. Erika Buchholz had 14 points, with Jenny Wuest and Kristina Dredge adding 10 points each. Carthage plays host to North Park University on Tuesday, Feb. 14, also at the Carthage PEC.
