The second half was mostly Caltech's way, but every hint of a run by the hosts was answered by the visitors. Caltech was 20 of 26 from the free throw line and Redlands was 2 of 9. The Beavers increased their rebounding margin in the second to plus-8 and cut their turnovers to 14 in the second half. Still, Redlands with 10 different players making a 3 in the game were able to hold off the Beavers for a hard-earned, well-deserved victory in front of an enthusiastic Caltech crowd.
Dave Thomas and Daniel Markus each scored 12 to support Mazarei's brilliance. Caltech was led by senior Jordan Carlson's 21 points and 8 rebounds, followed by frosh Travis Haussler with 20 and 12, and sophomore Bryan Hires with 19 and 14.
