Virginia Wesleyan 74, Bridgewater (Va.) 56

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Virginia Wesleyan led by just seven, 33-26, at the half, but pulled away in the final 20 minutes to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles, 74-56, in ODAC men’s basketball action.

The Eagles stayed within striking distance behind a solid first-half performance by Clay Michael as the the BC senior scored 11 points.

The Marlins scored the first seven points of the second half to open up a 14-point lead and pulled away for the comfortable victory.

Brandon Adair led the winners with 17 points. Tyler Fantin added 13 and Thomas Sumpter 10 for the Marlins. Michael finished with 14 points for the Eagles.

Virginia Wesleyan stays atop the ODAC standing with a 16-1 conference record. The Marlins are 21-3 overall. The Eagles drop to 9-14, 6-11 in the ODAC.
