Trinity (17-5, 9-2) trailed 34-35 at the half, as well as 37-47 early in the second period. The Tigers rattled off 10 unanswered points to tie the game at 47-47 with 14:21 to play, and then took the lead for good with 9:31 to play when Brandon York's three-pointer made it 57-55 in favor of the visitors.
Oglethorpe cut the lead to one point (71-70) with 3:40 to play, but Trinity scored six straight points to regain control of the game.
Mitch Walker led all players with a career-high 19 points, hitting 5-6 from three-point range and 4-4 from the foul line. Walker also had three assists and a pair of rebounds in his 23 minutes of action.
Andy Bates and Brandon York added 18 points each, while Ross Burt finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Bates also had four assists, four blocks, and three steals to his impressive box score, while York had four rebounds and four assists.
With the 18 points, Bates eclipses the 1,000-point mark for his career. He becomes the 21st player to reach the milestone, needing 40 more points to move into 20th in school history. Bates has also moved into second place in school history in career blocks, totaling 123 in his career - one more than former Tiger Adam Luton.
Casey Hill came off the bench to lead the team with seven rebounds, also contributing seven points, and James Lake also chipped in with seven points.
All five Oglethorpe starters hit double figures in scoring, led by 17 points from Ahmed Kareem Shaheed's 17 points and eight rebounds.
Trinity shot 53.8% from the field - including 47.8% three-pointers - while holding Oglethorpe to 40% shooting in the game.
The Tigers will travel to Millsaps College on Sunday afternoon to finish off the SCAC road weekend.
