New York City Tech 78, Hunter 75

BROOKLYN, NY — JACKETS HOLD OFF HAWKS IN MEN’S HOOPS, 78-75
The NYC College of Technology men’s basketball team led CUNYAC rival Hunter College 44-35 at half, and by as much as by 17 points, 69-62 on a three-pointer by junior guard Kareem Hanley (Canarsie / Brooklyn, NY) before squandering the entire lead at 3:41 mark on a layup from Nelson Pierre (Prospect Heights / Brooklyn, NY) to tie the game at 72-72. But freshman Kevin Hall (Madison / Brooklyn, NY) hit a jumper thirty seconds later to put City Tech up for good. Hanley finished the game with a team-high 19 points, which included four three-pointers, while Pierre led Hunter with 19 points and six rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets (8-15, 7-6 CUNYAC), the defending CUNYAC Champions, finished the Conference season with a winning record for the third consecutive time. On the evening, the junior forward Otis Saylee (Seward Park / New York, NY) had a strong all-around game with 17 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Senior guard Clyde Forteau (St. Raymond’s / Bronx, NY) added 17 points and three assists. Fellow senior Danul Cabbagestalk (John Adams / Brooklyn, NY) had nine points and a dozen rebounds in his final CUNYAC regular season game.

The Hawks (3-22, 2-10) received 18 points from junior guard Rommel Dolar (Fort Hamilton / Brooklyn, NY) and sophomore guard Danny Greenberg (Montgomery / Rockville, MD) added 10 points in the loss.

NYCCT next hosts Kean University on Monday night, February 13, for a non-conference game at 7:00 pm.
