Mississippi College 71, LeTourneau 51

CLINTON, MS — The 14th-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws (20-1, 17-1) extended the second longest winning streak in the nation to 15 games in a 71-51 blowout of LeTourneau University (7-14, 6-13) Thursday night in A. E. Wood Coliseum and clinched their eighth ASC East Division title in nine years.

The Choctaws opened the game on a 17-2 run and did not allow LeTourneau a field goal until the 10:39 mark of the first half. MC built the lead to 48-17 with 18:28 remaining in the game before emptying the bench in the second half.

Junior forward Patrick Veal was the high scorer for the Choctaws with 12 points while sophomore forward Tyler Winford added ten points.

Travis Bankett and Dewones Smith led LeTourneau with eleven points each as the only Yellow Jackets in double figures.

LeTourneau finished the game shooting 28 percent after a 18 percent performance in the first half (5-28). The Yellow Jackets missed their first 14 shots of the game. TheChoctaws finished 49 percent for the game after a 58 percent first half.

LeTourneau won the rebounding edge 42-36.
