The Pioneers opened the second half on a 9-2 run to lead 35-28 with 16:14 remaining, their largest lead of the night. UW-Platteville led 36-30 with 15:36 left when UW-L went on a 14-2 run to lead 44-38 with 8:46 remaining.
UW-Platteville cut the lead to 46-42, but UW-L scored the next six points of the game to lead 52-42 with 5:52 remaining and the Pioneers could get no closer than the final margin of five.
Marcus Conigliaro led UW-L with 15 points while Joe Werner recorded his 16th career double-double (sixth this season) with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Luke Homan added a career-high 14 for the Eagles. Homan was six-of-eight from the field.
UW-L shot 43.9% from the field, including 33.3% (five-of-15) from three-point range. The Eagles were five-of-10 (50.0%) at the free throw line.
LeVon Crawford led UW-Platteville with 16 points and eight rebounds.
