With the loss, Ohio Northern falls to 12-10 on the season and 7-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Quakers improve to 15-7, 10-5.
Sophomore Megan Cevasco led the Polar Bears with 15 points, while sophomore Erin Brand added 12 off the bench.
Kelly Peters led Wilmington with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Erica Smith also scored 13.
Wilmington dominated in the first half, holding Northern to 17.9 percent shooting (5-for-28) from the floor.
The Quakers used a 19-6 run over the last 9:10 to push the lead to 34-14 at intermission.
Wilmington extended their lead to 40-14 on a jumper by Jacki Hauke two minutes into the second half.
Ohio Northern fought back with a 12-3 run of its own, capped by a three-pointer from freshman Emily Culbertson, to bring the score to 47-35 with 12:22 to play.
Junior Danielle Andreasen completed a three-point play with 5:23 remaining to cut the Wilmington lead to 60-52.
Samantha Hood responded with a layup at the other end for Wilmington, however Brand then scored an offensive put-back to keep the Bears within striking distance at 62-54 with 4:30 remaining.
The Bears could only muster a three-pointer by Cevasco from that point forward as Wilmington hit 8-of-10 free throws to seal the game.
Wilmington out-rebounded Northern 46-26, including a 30-13 advantage in the first half.
The Polar Bears, who lead the OAC in three-point shooting, managed to shoot 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from downtown though the team only shot 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the field.
“We dug too big of a hole for ourselves in the first half,” said ONU head coach Michele Durand. “We had a solid effort in the second half, but we need that for all 40 minutes.”
Ohio Northern returns to action when it travels to Marietta on Saturday at 3 p.m.
