The Blue Jays got 14 points from both Danny Nawrocki and Matt Griffin, while Jeff Thompson and T.J. Valerio posted 13 and 12 points, respectively. The visiting Blue Jays outscored McDaniel 40-22 in the paint, and made good on 27 of the 46 free throws McDaniel afforded them.
McDaniel committed 31 fouls and saw four players, including a pair of starters, foul out of the game.
The Jays went ahead 13 with 4:15 left in the game on a Valerio three. It was Hopkins’ final field goal of the game, but they clicked on seven of 12 shots at the line down the stretch.
That effort at the line would prove necessary.
Trailing by 13 after Valerio’s shot, McDaniel embarked on a furious 15-7 run. Will Talesnick, who led all scorers with 23 points, sparked the run with a three-pointer. Three of his teammates connected from behind the arc down the stretch, but the Terror was never able to cut it closer than four points.
In addition to his 14 points, Nawrocki pulled down nine rebounds for the Jays. McDaniel’s Josh McKay was the game’s leading rebounder with 13. Hopkins owned a 45-52 edge in the rebounding column. McKay also recorded three blocks in the game.
McDaniel’s Jemar Daniel scored a career-high 16 points before fouling out. Chad Arrington gave McDaniel 11 points and eight rebounds. He also fouled out.
With the loss, McDaniel slips to 8-14, 6-9 on the season. The Terror will return to action on Saturday at Muhlenberg.
