Mary Washington 90, Goucher 54

— Junior guard Mike Lee led five players in double figures as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team topped Goucher College, 90-54, on Wednesday night at Goolrick Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 13-8 overall, and 8-3 in Capital Athletic Conference play, while Goucher falls to 1-19 and 1-10.
Freshman guard Matt Treacy and sophomore guard Justin Baker each scored eleven points for UMW, while sophomore Jon Pierce and senior Mike Mattson (shown) each scored ten. Baker added eight assists for the Eagles, who made 15 of 35 three point attempts in the game. Goucher was led by James Russo's 19 points and Jonathan Garritt's 16.
UMW jumped out to a big lead early, shooting 59.4% from the floor in the first half, including eight threes, in leading 48-18 at halftime. They outscored the Gophers, 42-36, in the second half.
UMW will visit Salisbury University on Saturday at 7:30 pm in another CAC contest.
