Baruch 107, Hunter 81

New York, N.Y. — The Baruch Bearcats put together their strongest offensive output of the season to defeat Hunter, 107-81, in front of a record crowd of 1,200 fans in the ARC Arena on Wednesday night.

The team scored 107 points by shooting 51 percent (38-75) and forcing 29 turnovers with solid defense on every inch of the court.

Prior to tip off, the team honored their five seniors with a ceremony in front of family that recognized their efforts as successful student-athletes.

Hunter (3-21, 2-10 CUNYAC) put together a strong showing in the first half to trail by only 49-42, but the Bearcats (21-3, 12-0 CUNYAC) stormed out to start the second half with 19-10 run in the first five minutes to go up, 68-52.

The lead grew to as high as 27 points late in the game, as every player on the Baruch bench eventually saw significant action in the victory.

Senior Cheick Fadika (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Petit) led the Bearcats with 23 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Fadika has now recorded at least one blocked shot in every game this season.

Senior Robi Davidson (Tel Aviv, Israel/Beverly Hills) scored 21 points (4-8, 3fg) and dished out a season-high eight assists, while senior Louie Karis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) had 18 points.

Senior co-captain Anwar Baptiste (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond’s) had another solid game with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Hunter had four players in double-figure scoring led by Maeem Mahmood (Montville, N.J./Montville Township) with 23 points.

Baruch will finish their 2005-06 regular season schedule this Saturday afternoon with a conference road game at Lehman College. Tip off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
