Johns Hopkins 74, McDaniel 56

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Katie Kimball scored a game high 20 points, while Julie Miller added 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds to power Johns Hopkins (17-4, 14-1) to a 74-56 victory at McDaniel.

It was McDaniel’s (16-6, 10-5) worst loss at home since February 10, 2000, when McDaniel fell by 20 points to Elizabethtown at the Gill Center. The Green Terror’s third home loss this year marks the most home defeats the Terror has endured in a season since that same 1999-2000 campaign.

The Terror was unable to solve Hopkins’ defense, which held McDaniel to its second lowest night of offensive production this season. The Blue Jays held McDaniel to 57 points in this season’s previous meeting.McDaniel got 16 points and four rebounds from Katy Powell, and 11 points from Kristy Costa, but shot a meager 35.3 percent from the field.

Hopkins quickly regrouped from an early 12-8 deficit built by McDaniel three-pointers and embarked on an 18-6 run. It was all Hopkins from that point forward.

The Jays held a 41-26 lead at the break and lead by as many as 21 points late in the game.

With the loss, McDaniel falls to 16-5, 10-5, while Johns Hopkins improved to 17-4, 14-1). McDaniel returns to action on Saturday at Muhlenberg.
