St. Thomas remains tied atop the conference standings with Carleton, a 62-61 winner at home over Macalester. Both are 14-3 in the conference with three games left. Both teams will lock up a first-round bye and top-two seed with one more win.
The Toms (17-5 overall, 14-3 MIAC) shot 52% from the field in the first half and 47% on the game. They improved to 8-1 at home this season and are 17-0 when they outshoot their opponents in field-goal percentage.
Junior guard Bryan Schnettler scored 16 points and senior guard Sean Sweeney had seven assists for the Tommies.
Mark Bergstrom had 13 points and Jon Bain had 12 points and seven rebounds for St. Olaf (9-13 overall, 7-10 MIAC).
UST used a 17-0 run to go ahead 23-4, and led 42-21 at halftime. They used an 11-5 run to open the second half to take a 31-point lead. They later built the lead to 66-34 with 9:00 to play before inserting reserves.
The Tommies play at Bethel Wednesday night, while the Oles host Gustavus.
