Ewert scored 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting in the first half while the Pipers (11-10, 7-9 in the MIAC) opened up a 45-28 halftime lead. In all, Ewert went 9 of 15 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Pipers moved into a temporary tie for the sixth and final playoff spot. If the Pipers made the playoffs, it would be Hamline's first postseason berth in school history.
First-year Jessica Heinen came off the bench to score 15 points. Junior Kelly Lines had 13 points - 11 in the first half. Junior Ashlee Senser and Krystal Tschumperlin each tallied 10 points.
The Pipers shot 47 percent in the first half (17-36). Augsburg (5-16, 3-14) could get no closer than 11 points in the second half.
Auggie Katie LaGrave had a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Rosinta Stromquist added 19 points for the Auggies.
Augsburg was held to 9 of 30 shooting in the first half (30 percent) and 34 percent for the game.
