Mount Ida knocked down its first seven shots from the field, as it built an early 17-7 advantage just four minutes into the game. Husson outscored the Mustangs 42-17 over the final 16 minutes of the first frame to open up a 49-34 halftime edge.
Junior Doug Williams (Ellicot City, Md./St. Mary’s) converted a layup to close the gap to nine points (50-41) with 17:26 remaining in regulation, but the Eagles were too much. They led by as many as 30 points (84-54) en route to their ninth league win in ten chances.
White led all scorers with 19 points. He also posted game-highs of ten rebounds and three steals, while Leavitt added 18 points and ten boards. Junior Tyler Muzzy (Greenville, Maine) recorded 12 points and six rebounds, while classmate Jason Harvey (Bucksport, Maine) ended with nine points, six rebounds and a game-best four assists.
Senior Scott Chamberlain (Millis, Mass./Millis) and Williams led Mount Ida with 15 points apiece. Chamberlain also grabbed seven boards, dished out four assists and blocked three shots, all squad-highs. Sophomore Mike Dunham (Salem, N.H./Salem) connected on a pair of treys en route to a 14-point afternoon, and senior captain Matt McGaughran (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy) chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and three helpers to round things out for the Mustangs.
Mount Ida (4-16, 3-7 NAC) will wrapup its home slate versus non-conference foe Mitchell College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Husson (12-8, 9-1 NAC) returns to action on Wednesday, when it travels to the University of Maine Farmington for a league tilt beginning at 7:30 p.m.
