The win lifts the 14th ranked Knights to 18-2 overall and 11-1 in MIAA action while the Belles fall to 10-12 and 8-5 respectively.
Calvin connected on 25 of their 47 attempts from the field. Their accuracy from the floor was the second best mark of the season for the visitors.
The Knights opened the game by scoring the first nine points just three minutes into the contest. Saint Mary’s continued to fight back and got their deficit down to 26-21 on a Bridget Boyce three-pointer with 7:09 left until half. However, Calvin went on a 9-2 scoring spurt in taking a 35-23 edge at intermission.
In the second frame Calvin held a steady lead in double figures through out. The Belles got as close as eight points when Boyce nailed a lay-up with 6:05 left to make the score 57-49. The Knights stayed hot down the stretch connecting on all three of their field goal attempts and 12 of their 14 shots from the charity stripe after the Boyce lay-up to seal the win.
Bridget Boyce scored a team high 19 points to pace the Belles effort. Alison Kessler recorded 17 while Erin Newsom and Shelly Bender rounded out the double figure scorers for Saint Mary’s with 11 and 10 respectively.
The Knights were led by Marcia Harris who hit 6 of her 7 field goal attempts while going 7-for-8 from the foul line en route to a team high 19 points. Lisa Winkle added 18 and Lindsey Peuler notched 13 to aid in the Calvin win.
