WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Cunningham Leads Rangers to Season Sweep of Lyco

Courtney Cunningham scored 29 points as the Drew Rangers defeated Lycoming, 51-40, in Williamsport, Pa. Cunningham hit five threes and grabbed ten rebounds as both teams struggled from the field. Drew (10-10, 5-5) has now won four straight matches against the Warriors (4-15, 1-9). Andrea Cooper led Lycoming with 11 points.

In a slow starting first half neither team scored until the 14 minute mark, but Cunningham made up for lost time by netting 14 in the first half alone. The Warriors did a tremendous job on Drew hotshot Melissa Kraft, holding her to no points in the first period. Still, the Rangers took a 22-16 lead in the break thanks to a 15-1 run in the middle of the half.

The game remained close until the 11 minute mark as the Warriors used an Andrea Cooper put back to tie the game at 32-32. Amy Kile gave the Warriors their last lead of the game at 11:28 with a lay-up. Cunningham then began the decisive Ranger run with a long three pointer to give Drew a one point advantage. Kraft hit a three for the next bucket before Cunningham drained a free throw and consecutive threes to put the Rangers up by eight. Cunningham finished off Lycoming with a lay-up with just under four minutes remaining.

Cunningham scored 29 points on 11-22 shooting while adding 10 rebounds. Kraft proved the breadth of her game by contributing even while having a tough night on the offensive end. The junior guard was held 12 points below her average, but recorded ten rebounds and seven assists. Laura Methvin was the third Rangers in double digits for boards with 11. Ann Mularz had eight points and six rebounds off the bench.

Cooper led the Warriors with 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds while blocking four shots. Danielle Kern pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
