Drew got stung by an 11-0 Lycoming run to start the second half and fell to the Warriors, 62-51 in Pennsylvania. Chris Lopez scored 12 points to lead Drew (8-13, 3-7), but Lycoming (12-9, 6-4) used a big inside advantage to pull out the victory. Brad Musser led four Warriors in double figures with 11 points.
Drew took a one point lead into the break thanks to ten points from Lopez in the opening period. Gerard Mullin netted six in the first half with a pair of threes. But, just like the Rangers’ loss on Wednesday to DeSales, a five minute spurt by the Warriors to open the second half ruined the good work done. Lycoming scored 11 straight points after play resumed as Jonathan Pribble scored five points in the run.
The Lycoming lead fluctuated between seven and eleven points until the Rangers put up one more rally halfway through the second period. Dave Pepperman, who scored a season-high ten points in the game, brought Drew back to ten points with a lay-up to make it 45-35. After another Pepperman bucket, Bob Carella drained a three to make it 45-40. Unfortunately for Drew, the Warriors rebounding advantage prevented further excitement and Lycoming pulled away.
Along with Lopez and Pepperman, Dennis Mayes had a good game for Drew with five points and a pair of rebounds off the bench. The Rangers held the Freedom’s second best three point shooting team to just 2-16 from behind the arc, but Lycoming out-rebounded Drew 43-27.
Brad Musser, Greg Sye and Kevin Morris each had 11 points while Jonathan Pribble scored ten. Patrick Baylor had six points and 12 rebounds.
