Gordon 63, Colby-Sawyer 56

NEW LONDON, N.H. — In a back-and-forth game that featured 10 ties and eight lead changes, Gordon finally grabbed the lead for good with 4:54 left to play, defeating Colby-Sawyer, 63-56, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.

After the Chargers tied the score at 44-44 on a three-pointer by Nate Truncellito with 5:13 left to play, Gordon's John Marstaller made one of two free throws to give Gordon the lead for the final time. Aaron Vogelzang made another pair of foul shots after a turnover at the other end of the floor, putting the Scots up by three with 4:16 left.

After the two sides traded baskets, Justin Kaufman pushed the Gordon lead to six on his fourth three-pointer of the night. The Scots' lead would get no smaller than six the rest of the way, as Gordon sealed the game by making 7-of-10 from the foul line in the final 43 seconds, with six of those coming from Kaufman.

The game was tight throughout, as neither team led by more than nine points until Kaufman made a pair of foul shots with 12 seconds left to give the Scots an 11-point advantage. Pat Kenny the scored a pair of baskets for Colby-Sawyer in the final 10 seconds for the final margin.

Andrew St. Clair scored 15 points and had nine rebounds to lead Colby-Sawyer (10-9, 8-3 CCC), which also got 10 points from Collin Bray and nine from Truncellito.

Kaufman led all scorers with 21 points for Gordon, which won for the 12th straight game. Vogelzang added 17 points and Marstaller had 16 for the Scots (17-3, 10-1 CCC).

Colby-Sawyer will try to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, traveling to Milton, Mass., for an 8 p.m. contest against Curry.
