The win improves Carroll to 18-2 overall, 12-1 in the Midwest Conference while Knox falls to 10-9 overall, 7-6 in league play.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 57-24 lead at halftime lead thanks to a sizzling shooting performance. Carroll shot 67.6% (25-of-27) from the field in the opening 20-minutes and finished the game at 58.4%. Scheper finished 11-of-13 from the field while recording the 1,000th point of his career.
Carroll held the Prairie Fire to 36.2% shooting from the field and forced 23 Knox turnovers while committing just eight.
Freshman Trevor Stratton came off the Pioneer bench to add 15 points (7-of-10 from the field) while juniors Nathan Drury and Paul Toshner added 12 points each. No Knox player reached double figures in scoring.
Today’s win also sets a new school record for most wins in a season. The previous mark of 17 wins was accomplished during the 1961-1962 and 2003-2004 seasons.
The Pioneers remain one game behind league-leading Lawrence University with road games at Ripon College and Beloit College sandwiched around one of the most highly anticipated match-ups in league history when the Vikings visit Waukesha on Feb. 15.
Carroll is currently ranked #23 in the nation but will likely move into the top 20 with three decisive wins over Midwest Conference opponents this week.
