All five Brockport starters scored in double figures including Ben Bellucci with a game-high 26 points, followed by Jerry Cheves, 15; Jon Rother, 12; and Kenny Amparo and Dan Rubertone, 11 each. Bellucci also dished eight assists and pulled down six rebounds.
Gibbs-Smith, who was 6-of-11 from the field and 8-of-10 on free throws and had eight rebounds, was one of several Plattsburgh players who turned in great performances. Jerrad Dumont had 18 points on six treys and recorded three steals. Antwane Miller scored 15 points, including 5-for-5 from the free throw stripe. Mike Dietz notched 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds for game honors in that category. Anthony Williams rounded out the Cardinal double-figure scorers with 10 points and had four assists.
After Bellucci made 1-of-2 free throws to give Brockport an 86-84 lead with 7 seconds remaining, Plattsburgh had a chance to send the game into overtime but Williams' jumper missed the mark with 1 second left.
