Ohio Wesleyan 77, Allegheny 67

MEADVILLE, Pa. — After going into the locker room with a two-point lead at the half, the Allegheny College Gators (8-12, 4-8 NCAC) couldn’t hang on and fell to the Ohio Wesleyan Batting Bishops (14-7, 9-3 NCAC) on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a women's/men's double header by a 77-67 score.

Two other Gators scored double digits, with Ryan Hollihan (Saxonburg/Knoch) and Bill Babe (Pittsburgh/ Mt. Lebanon) (right) pouring in 11 and 10 points, respectively. Hollihan also pulled in 10 rebounds on the night.

The first half proved to be an even one, with neither team leading by more than six points at a time. After an opening three pointer by Brad Witucki (Natrona Heights/Highlands), the Bishops maintained a slight lead for the majority of the half, before the Gators regained control of the scoreboard and entered the locker room with a score of 36-34.

Jimmy Savage (North Canton/Hoover) (left) scored all eight of his points in the second half, including two three-pointers, but the Bishops 61.5% shooting from the field proved to be too much.

Ohio Wesleyan was led by Ben Chojnacki who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Matt Shirer added 16 points, while Dustin Rudegeair scored 11 points.

The Gators return to action Wednesday, February 8 when they host Oberlin (Ohio) College in the second game of another men’s/women’s double header with the game set to start at 8:00 p.m.
