Lawrence 79, Knox 51

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women's basketball team pulled away late in the first half and never looked back in a 79-51 Midwest Conference victory Friday night over Knox College at Alexander Gymnasium.

Kelly Mulcahy paced Lawrence (17-2, 10-2 MWC) with 16 points. Jenny Stoner and Molly Bouressa added 11 points apiece for the Vikings, who remain tied for first place in the league.

Liz Grana led Knox (3-16, 1-11) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Knox led for the final time at 13-12 with 11:46 left in the first half. Lawrence went on a 10-0 run, capped by Stoner's 3-pointer with 8:04 left, to take a 22-13 lead.

The Vikings then finished the half with a 19-3 outburst over the final 6:01 to grab a 43-21 lead at the break.

Knox never got closer than 18 points in the second half.

Eighteen players got into the game for Lawrence, with 12 scoring at least two points.

Lawrence is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Illinois College in a 2:00 p.m. game.
