Nick Jones '07 paced Hamilton (8-1 league, 16-3 overall) with 16 points in just 14 minutes. Jones made all four of his three-point attempts and finished 6-for-7 from the field. Giorgi Chavleishvili '08 poured in 15 points. Tim Welchons '06, who leads the Continentals with 14.4 points per game, chipped in 12. Phil Valenti '06 added 12 and four steals. Valenti leads the league with 63 steals. Jeff Bernardi '07 came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points.
Greg Gallagher '06 led Skidmore (1-8, 4-15) with 16 points. Matt Belsito '09 nailed three three-pointers and finished with 15 points off the bench. Sam Cohen-DeVries '09 dropped in 13 and grabbed a team-high six rebounds, including five offensive.
Hamilton led 21-0 just 5:18 into the game when Jones hit a three-point basket. The Thoroughbreds scored their first point with 13:52 left in the half and recorded their first basket with 12:25 remaining. The Continentals cruised into the break with a 53-30 lead. Jones had 13 points.
Hamilton's lead never went under 23 points and grew to as many as 37 in the second half. Bernardi scored ten points in the final 20 minutes. The Continentals' 104 points is a season high.
Skidmore shot 41.5 percent (22-53) from the field and 88 percent (22-25) at the free throw line. Hamilton blistered the nets at 54 percent (34-63), including 13-for-22 on three-point attempts. The Continentals set the tone early with their full court defensive pressure. Hamilton was credited with 14 steals as the Thoroughbreds turned the ball over 20 times. The Continentals enjoyed a 38-30 advantage in rebounds.
Hamilton has won four straight games and leads the all-time series against Skidmore, 29-5. The Thoroughbreds lost their fifth game in a row.
