After the two teams traded baskets for the first few minutes of the game, NYU (17-2, 6-2 UAA) used a 7-0 run to jump out to a 25-16 lead with 7:15 to go in the half. The Violets then extended their lead to 38-28 at the break.

NYU kept Case (10-9, 2-6 UAA) at a comfortable distance early in the second half, but the Spartans cut into the Violet lead and trailed by only five points, 55-50, with 7:26 remaining.

Over the next four minutes, Boone scored eight straight points for NYU as the lead went back to nine, 66-57.

Case came right back with a 7-2 run to make the score 68-64 with 1:39 remaining.
