UW-L improves to 17-4 overall and 8-4 in the WIAC while UW-Oshkosh, ranked 24th on D3hoops.com, fall to 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the conference.
It marks the most wins for UW-L since 2001-02 when it finished 17-9.
The Titans held a 53-50 lead with 3:50 remaining when the Eagles' Marcus Conigliaro hit his fifth three-pointer of the game to tie it at 53-53 with 3:36 left. Fehrenbach then gave UW-L a 56-53 lead with his first basket of the game. Chris Ask gave the Eagles a 58-53 lead with :33 remaining as he hit a jumper with the shot clock running down.
Kerry Gibson came back for UW-Oshkosh to cut the lead to 58-55 with :23 left on a lay-up. The Titans were then forced to foul five times in the next :05 to put the Eagles at the line. Ask missed the front end of the one-and-one to keep the score 58-55. The Titans' Chad Doedens then missed a potential game-tying three with :05 left and UW-Oshkosh was forced to foul Joe Werner who hit two free throws with :04 remaining.
The game was tied five times in the first half with UW-Oshkosh holding the biggest lead at 31-27 with :14 left. The Titans led 31-28 at halftime.
Conigliaro led UW-L with 17 points, hitting five-of-seven three-point field goals. Werner finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
UW-L shot 45.3% from the field, including 43.8% (seven-of-16) from three-point range. The Eagles were five-of-nine (55.6%) at the free throw line.
Jim Capelle led UW-Oshkosh with 23 points, including 15 in the second half. He also had seven rebounds. Gibson finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.
UW-Oshkosh shot 41.5% from the field, including 12.5% (two-of-16) from three-point range. The Titans shot 56.5% (13-of-23) from the field in the first half and 30.0% (nine-of-30) in the second 20 minutes, including one-of-10 (10.0%) from three-point range. UW-Oshkosh hit all nine of its free throw attempts in the game.
