The win was McDaniel’s seventh this season, Bob Flynn’s Green Terror as the most wins since the 2000-2001 season. That edition of Terror cagers wore Western Maryland jerseys and picked up seven victories.
Talesnick had shot 0-for-nine through the game’s first 33 minutes, but drew a foul with 6:27 left in the game and nailed his pair at the line to finally get into the scoring column. Mike Dipiero stole the ball on the ensuing possession and found Talesnick for three to give McDaniel a six-point edge.
Talesnick finished the game with 14 points, hitting a pair of treys and going six-for-eight at the charity stripe. He accounted for all but four of McDaniel’s 18 points over the last six-and-half minutes of the game.
His late points were critical as Josh McKay fouled out with 3:26 left in the game. He went to the bench with 15 points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
The steal was Dipiero’s sixth of the evening. He had 12 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the win.
Dickinson led 28-26 at the half, but Jemar Daniel tied the game at 28-28 with a six-foot jumper 24 seconds into the second period. He drew a foul from Jon Skvarka on the play, and made good on the free throw to give McDaniel its second lead of the game.
The Red Devils tied it up three times over the next five minutes, but was never able to regain a lead.
The Red Devils got 16 points from Brad Litchfield, while freshman Mike Geosits contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a pair of blocks.
With the win, McDaniel improves to 7-13, 5-8, while the Red Devils fall to 5-15, 3-10. McDaniel returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Swarthmore.
