Maryville and Fisk battled back and forth the entire first half. After Bradley Blair hit a jumper with 4:18 remaining, Fisk’s James Shivers answered with a basket to secure the sixth tie score of the first half. The Bulldogs got hot on many second opportunity baskets and went to the locker-room at the half with a seven-point advantage, 39-32.
The Scots would battle back and with 13:42 left, Bo Mason recorded a steal and a bucket to tie the score for the seventh and final time (49-49).
Fisk would take advantage of their 40-28 rebound margin and 18 MC turnovers to quickly post a 9-point advantage. Maryville would get as close as three following an Andy Chaney steal and basket, but Fisk again pulled away for the 10-point victory.
Fisk (13-6, 4-1 GSAC) had five players post double figures on the evening. Post player Courtney Ellis had a double-double with 10 rebounds and 14 points. Marquis Patton led all Bulldog scorers with 16. Jeremiah Williamson, Eric Pillow, and Chris Adams added 13,12, and 10 points respectively.
Maryville (17-5, 4-1 GSAC) saw Bradley Blair toss in 25 points and 7 rebounds, both team highs. Jonathan Johnson was the only other Scot in double figures with an 11-point effort.
The Fighting Scots will return to action on Saturday February 11 as they travel to LaGrange, Georgia to challenge GSAC for LaGrange College.
